ChatPic.co.uk has two purposes, and we want to be straightforward about both of them.
The first is educational. This site is the most complete publicly available resource documenting the original ChatPic.org — what it was, why it grew to millions of users, and what led to its permanent shutdown in November 2023. If you arrived here searching for ChatPic or trying to understand what happened to it, this is the right place. We explain the full history, the legal situation, the mirror site risks, and what genuinely safe alternatives exist today.
The second is practical. ChatPic.co.uk provides a free image sharing tool that you can use right now — no account, no email, no sign-up. Drop any photo, set optional privacy controls (expiry, view limits, password protection), and get a shareable link in under a second.
Who Runs This Site
My name is Rizwan Aslam. I am a digital strategist and co-founder at Finixio Digital, a performance marketing and content agency based in the UK.
I built ChatPic.co.uk after noticing a genuine gap in what was available for people searching for ChatPic in 2024. The original platform had disappeared, but the search traffic remained — millions of people still looking for answers about what happened, whether it was coming back, and whether the mirror sites appearing in results were safe to use. Most of the resources that existed were thin, inaccurate, or actively trying to exploit that confused audience.
I had the background to write about this accurately and the technical ability to build a tool that filled the gap the original platform left. So I did.
What We Cover
The history of ChatPic.org. ChatPic.org launched around 2014 as a zero-friction anonymous image-sharing platform. By 2018, it was drawing millions of monthly users. By 2022, it was facing legal pressure from multiple jurisdictions over unmoderated content. By November 2023, it was permanently offline. We document this history in full — not to sensationalise it, but because people deserve accurate information about what happened and why the original site cannot return.
- Mirror site warnings: After ChatPic.org shut down, dozens of copycat sites appeared using the ChatPic name, logo, and design. We identify these sites, explain what they actually are, and give people the information they need to stay safe online.
- Privacy and image sharing guides: We publish practical guides on image privacy, EXIF metadata, GPS data removal, expiring links, burn-after-view sharing, and digital safety for UK and international users.
- The ChatPic.co.uk free tool: Our homepage offers a genuinely free image sharing tool — no account, no watermarks, no ads. Features include auto-expiring links, view limits, password protection, burn-after-view, QR code generation, and four embed formats (Direct URL, HTML, BBCode, Markdown). These are features other platforms charge for. We offer them for free because we think access control should not be paywalled.
What This Site Is Not
ChatPic.co.uk is not the original ChatPic.org. We have no affiliation with the original platform, its creators, or its hosting infrastructure. We did not acquire the domain, the codebase, or any user data from the original site. The original platform is permanently gone, and its data was deleted when its servers went offline.
We are also not chatpic.io, chatpic.pro, thechatpic.org, chat-pic.co.uk, or chatpics.co.uk. These are all separate, independent sites that adopted the ChatPic name after the shutdown. We have no commercial or editorial relationship with any of them.
Our Editorial Standards
Every article on this site is written or reviewed by Rizwan Aslam before publication. We do not publish AI-generated content without substantial human review, editing, and original input. We do not fabricate statistics, invent user counts, or claim credentials we do not hold.
When we cover legal topics — the Online Safety Act, UK copyright law, image reporting processes — we explain the law as it stands and link to official sources, but we are not a law firm and nothing on this site constitutes legal advice. When you need specific legal guidance, consult a qualified solicitor.
We update articles when laws change, platforms change their policies, or new information becomes available. Every article shows a “Last reviewed” date so you can see how current it is.

Privacy Commitment
We do not require registration to use the image sharing tool. We do not collect email addresses or phone numbers from users who upload images. Images are transferred over HTTPS, EXIF metadata is stripped on upload, and image links are blocked from Google and Bing indexing by default.

Why We Think This Site Matters
The ChatPic.org shutdown left a specific type of damage: millions of users who had grown to rely on a simple, fast, anonymous tool suddenly had nowhere to go except a growing field of unsafe copycat sites. The replacement options were either bloated with features no one wanted, riddled with ads, or actively deceptive about what they were.
We built ChatPic.co.uk because the problem the original platform solved — fast, no-friction image sharing — is still a real problem. And because someone needed to document what happened honestly, warn people about the risks still present in that space, and offer a clean alternative that learns from the original’s failures rather than repeating them.
That is what this site is for.
